This is a great start for a story by Janine S.  As George pointed out, we can take our pick of several choices.  The birdman could be an angel, a demon of Satan (or Satan himself), a space alien (or being from another dimension), or something invented by geeks or a mad scientist.

To that I'd like to add one more possibility:  magic or witchcraft.And someone may think of more!  So whoever makes the next add-on will have lots of ideas to choose from.

Honestly I pounced on this one because I had written (wrote) this piece a few months back and did not quite know where to take it after this. It could stand alone as a short, I guess, but I had always felt it should be added to. I am interested to see what other characters people could cook up to compliment Shanna in her quest - wherever that may take her.
