We got no posts for June/July, so I'll just post here and say that all the stories, poems, and articles were great.  Jul/Aug is now up and ready, and hopefully, as readers get used to the new forum, we'll start seeing comments.

So the shagg story is semi-sci fi? It was a short read, and would I have made it longer, No, unless there was another subplot consisting of the questions the alien would ask, more plot at the ending where he waits for the alien, interacts with the villagers and comes to another realization other than given by the story.

The short story reminded me of a twilight zone plot and was compact enough to be a 15 minute story. Would Hollywood be interested? A short synapsis might help with an agent.

Off the topic, what is your rejection rate for those who submit? By what parameters are people rejected, would I reject this story, No, but, it did seem almost mundane and not sophisticated but if it is at the xanga level it would pass....

When at a loss for words, wing it.

Hi Philpalm, and thanks for the comments.  Shag was written as a flash fiction piece, although it's probably a bit too long for that.  I'm a mite flattered that the story reminds you of a TZ plot and even a mention of an interest by Hollywood.  Thanks!

About acceptance/rejection rates:  SSS is an informal, personal  website, and although I have guidelines for submissions, they are very flexible.  SSS is mainly a site for novice writers like myself to display their work.
