I just wanted to introduce a topic where everyone can moan and groan over lost writing.

This weekend, I lost 20 years worth of poetry.  I have about 30 percent in hardcopy but the rest is gone.  One lost disk and two corrupted disks completely undid it.

Two things to remember: 1) Print out a copy of everything and 2) Keep a back up of your back ups of your back ups of your back ups...

I'm so getting a thumbdrive this week!

Ouch!!  Losing twenty years of your work is a real heart breaker.  You have my sympathy.

One other way to have a backup of your work is to copy and paste it on your blog or website.  Also, if you have it posted on someone else's website you may be able to retrieve it.

I remember once long ago I thought I had lost two stories forever in a PC crash.  But I remembered that both stories were posted on other sites, so I went to those sites and copied and pasted them back to my own files.

Hope you can manage somehow to locate more of them.

I think I might get a free trip to China! The Lady who I work for needs a biographer for herself. I guess this method beats being a writer on your own.

When at a loss for words, wing it.

I'm dealing with that problem myself! Maybe not to the extremes with which you are, but I have several years of poetry that I can't find also, plus some short stories. I want to get to posting, but just can't find my peices! It is extremely frustrating, I understand!
I may eventually find mine though, in the heaps of my basement or garage one of these days.
 My sympathy to you!

I post all my work on Booksie.com. I am sooooo glad I did as last fall we had a power surge on our electric lines from an accident and my computer plus a whole bunch of other stuff was toast!
